This dark painting is symbolic of the Acadians' short time in Britany, France, in the 1770s. It was supposed to be a new beginning for them after they fled from Canada. There are 38 identical houses today. but they are mostly deteriorating. Many of the Acadians were not happy here and returned to Canada and Acadia and ultimately to Louisianna.
